Neighbours cruel to cats

Just found out my neighbours across the road from me have stuck cocktail sticks in their newly laid gravel at the front of their house. Local cats have been using the stones as a toilet. It's really upsetting me. I have two cats. I'm really concerned that an animal is really going to get hurt. I don't know these neighbours very well, they only come down at weekends. I just can't get over what they've done. What should I do?

Our cat navigates fields, thorns, etc with no issues. I agree your neighbours abhorrent but I think the cats may be cleverer than they are. That said, I’d remove the cocktail sticks under cover of darkness and then talk to the neighbours about other ways to deter the cats. I think you can get various sprays etc.

You should do nothing. It's their property and they are probably sick of cleaning up cat poo when they don't have cats themselves. If you are worried about your cats, keep them in your house.

Upload a photo to next door and local Facebook group go shame them. Use an alias if you don’t want any comeback from them.

There are humane ways to deter cats, cocktail sticks in the ground is cruel and unnecessary.

Not exactly cruel to cats!
The cats have brilliant eyes and senses, they won't get stuck on cocktail sticks, they'll just negotiate around them and decide to toilet somewhere else.

This. You should either keep your cats in your house or catproof your garden, not leave everyone else to deal with them.

If you can see them... so can cats Confused

They just stop them squatting to take a dump. They can see them perfectly well. The cats will find somewhere else.
