Should I worry about this rash on my toddler?

Hi, my DD aged almost 2 has had a red patch on her thigh for a couple of weeks, but we live in a slightly more tropical climate and I just thought it was a mosquito bite for ages. However in the last couple of days it has got redder and more raised. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. What do you think this is and should I take her to the doctor? Thanks in advance!

It looks psoriasis and probably needs cream. Definitely take her to a pharmacist/gp

Thanks. It is a bit more complicated getting a doctors appointment here than in the UK unfortunately but I'll have to try. I was worried it might be something serious but do you think it's definitely psoriasis?

Unless House is a doctor please don't rely on comments on the internet (@Houseofvelour apologies but it's OP's last sentence I am referring to).

I have psoriasis and it doesn't look like that.
Only a medical professional can tell you.

Looks fungal or like a shingles rash
Had she had chicken pox before?
I'd see a GP

RonniePickering · 21/09/2021 13:53

Yeah it doesn’t look like psoriasis to me either.

Silversun83 · 21/09/2021 15:34

I don't think it looks like psoriasis either.. That's basically where the body makes too many skin cells so would be very dry and flaky and probably itchy.

Looks a little like impetigo which my DS needed antibiotics for.. But I'm not a HCP and it could be anything, so definitely would advise finding a GP.

AntiSocialDistancer · 21/09/2021 15:38

Looks like a shingles rash. I would take her to see someone, it looks unpleasant. With it being red and inflamed it doesn't look like something that is settling down.

DressBitch · 21/09/2021 15:39

I thought impetigo, too.
