So annoyed at myself for messing up

I messed up nursery pick up today and I’m so upset

I meant to leave on time but the school called about older dc, then I remembered I had a parcel due so had to write a note to stick on door then the baby was crying so I left 2 mins late.

I rushed but was literally a minute late but ds was already crying as everyone else was gone and then I made it worse as the teacher was trying to talk to me but I had to walk away as could hear dd in the buggy outside the doors starting to cry as she couldn’t see me 😭

So now I feel like I was late and probably looked rude and I didn’t mean to be either 😞

Did you tell them teacher you needed to get the younger child in the buggy?

We all make mistakes. Apologise to the teacher and next time plan to leave the house earlier than needed as if your lo is anything like mine something always happens when you need to be some where.

He so think in some kind of flustered way I said I had dd in the buggy but ds was crying 😭 the last thing I wanted to do was be rude but I knew if dd started crying I’d have her screaming all the way home

I think I’ll apologise tomorrow it just seemed to be everything was fine and then getting an unexpected call from school meant I couldn’t change dd when I needed to and I shouldn’t have answered but I can’t ignore a call for the school obviously I was just So flustered

Aww @messedupFedup don't be too hard on yourself. I've worked at a nursery and while there were some parents who were repeatedly late, if you're usually on time it wouldn't be a bother. It's a horrible feeling when your LO is last I know, but it wasn't like he was waiting for ages. At the very least he knows now that you're coming back for him even if everyone else has gone. And I'm sure the nursery teacher heard your LO crying and would understand. If you're worried about looking rude maybe you can just mention it next time you're there and explain what had happened. Hugs 💐

Chill.Brew Everything is fine.

The teacher will completely understand, don't beat yourself up, I bet the teacher has been too busy to even give it a second thought.

If it makes you feel better, just explain at pick up, explain you were just having one of those mornings, they will understand.

thinkbiglittleone · 21/09/2021 13:00

Sorry I see it's tomorrow you will see them next, so just explain thenThanksThanks

messedupFedup · 21/09/2021 13:01

I just feel awful I hate to be rude and I feel like I will have looked disorganised and rude and it was just a series of things as I had to leave
I have anxiety and I worry and overthink and hate people to think badly of me so it’s upset me because I’m over sensitive

I’ll apologise tomorrow

It happens to everyone now and again! No-one will think any the worse of you!

messedupFedup · 21/09/2021 13:52

I think my minds just not focused enough my dad passed away last week so I’m just not quite functioning how I usually do

Oh, bless you - please be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up over this, especially while you're grieving. Think about it - somebody at the nursery is going to be the last to be collected every day, and it's not as if you were hours late. You sound very much like me in not wanting anyone to thinkk badly of you, but I guarantee you that the nursery staff will have forgotten all about it already. At worst, the teacher talking to you will have thought 'She's a bit flustered today'. Please try not to stress about it any more Flowers

Sorry to hear that. Extra reason to go easy on yourself.
