Tights & underwear?

I’m watching greys anatomy for the first time. There’s a sick mum and she’s telling her daughter to wear underwear with pantyhose. My understanding is pantyhose are what we call tights? Are we not supposed to wear knickers with them?

Yes, knickers and tights. I definitely want something between my bits and the tights I reckon just tights would rub and be quite uncomfortable.

Knickers under tights, of course.

Someone said knickers over^ tights to hold them up. Just buy tights that fit...? Also, is that then two pairs of knickers you're wearing every day? My bum would be suffocating.

This is my question! It would never occur to me not to wear knickers but this one said it like the tights acted as knicker and hosiery. Glad to see I’m not alone in wearing knickers 😂
