Have you been invited to cervical screening/smear as normal?

Just occurred to me I’ve not had a smear in over 4 years (I’m in the age range that should be offered every 3 years) and not had any invitation to go for one. I would have been due to have one around the time lockdown 1 was in full swing so wondering whether the service is still trying to catch up and there are delays?
Will probably phone the drs at some point but they are a nightmare to get through to

Yes I have had an invite plus two reminders…..I have booked in now although I always find it an ordeal due to a horrific labour with my second DS.

YoComoManzanas · 20/09/2021 19:58

Yep. Invited to and had one July 2020. All as normal except wearing facemask, sanitising hands and one at a time into the gp surgery.
Perhaps try to contact your gp for an appointment?

StartingGrid · 20/09/2021 19:59

Yes, 6 months late but was invited and done 2 weeks ago!

Yes, around June 2020.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 20/09/2021 20:00

Yes had one on the first day of the January lockdown.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/09/2021 20:01

Yes, two letters followed up by a call from the practice nurse when I tried to dodge it.

thirstyformore · 20/09/2021 20:01

Yep. I had one in March 2020 during the last lockdown. I was asked to book one.

InnPain · 20/09/2021 20:02

I’ve had a few letters sent to me this year but as I’m expecting I haven’t pursued them.

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 20/09/2021 20:03

Our surgery has fully caught up.
Phone the surgery, it will say on your records if your smear is needed or overdue so they should just be able to book you in.

NewLifePending · 20/09/2021 20:05

Yes, beginning of this year

TSSDNCOP · 20/09/2021 20:11

I have been invited to book one.

The problem is finding that spare two hours a day to repeatedly and unsuccessfully phone the GP switchboard.

Samanabanana · 20/09/2021 20:13

I was invited to book one bang on 3 tears after my last one. Can't go as I'm pregnant though!

themuttsnutts · 20/09/2021 20:14

Yes. We can see anyone but GPs!

kausheyv · 20/09/2021 20:15

Yes I had mine when it was due.

MrsMariaReynolds · 20/09/2021 20:15

I just had mine about a month and a half ago at the surgery, a few weeks after my invitation arrived in the post.

BrilloPaddy · 20/09/2021 20:17

I had a letter in April (had previous cervical cancer) but every time I've tried to book one, have had a "no appointments available, try in 3 weeks" battle. Hence it's now September and am considering trying to get a private one.

2tired2bewitty · 20/09/2021 20:18

Yup, had one during lockdown one. Quite nice to get out of the house and talk to someone face to face as it were Grin

ShanghaiDiva · 20/09/2021 20:19

Yes and mammogram.

everythingcrossed · 20/09/2021 20:20

I had one last month. The nurse did mention something about moving to every five years if the test was normal - but I wasn't paying close attention. Maybe see if they are moving to new guidelines?

PetuniaButterworth · 20/09/2021 20:20

I was invited May 2020 but had to postpone die to pregnancy, finally got it done in July 3031 and you've reminded me I need to telephone for the results although I do always think no news is good news

wendz86 · 20/09/2021 20:25

Yep got a letter in post a month ago. Pretty sure last one was 3 years ago.

takingmytimeonmyride · 20/09/2021 20:27

Yes. I hadn't had one for a very long time Blush and got regular reminders, even during lockdown. Finally had it a few weeks ago. (Everything fine, thankfully)

Mindymomo · 20/09/2021 20:43

I just had a letter, booked for late October, can’t remember the last one I had.

AluminumMonster · 20/09/2021 20:47

Yes, had 2, lucky me. First letter normal invitation, second was the annual follow up due to results. Possibly depends where you live, that's pretty shocking that a pp with history of cervical cancer is unable to get an appointment.
