Or does it need to be removed

I'm pretty sure I removed my top. Wear a shirt and that way you can just unbutton but keep it half on.

stclair · 20/09/2021 19:38

If it’s big and stretchy would be able to manage putting on the dots and leads

Rrrob · 20/09/2021 19:39

I had to take top and bra off

greenmacaron · 20/09/2021 19:41

Needs to be off, realistically. You need to have stickers all across your chest, can’t really do it with a top on.

Watto1 · 20/09/2021 19:42

You will definitely have to take your bra off but you can keep a blouse or cardigan on. It literally only takes a minute once you are wired up.

Tintino · 20/09/2021 19:43

I've had both before, where I've had to remove my top, last time I was wearing a baggy t-shirt and the gp just pulled it up to access the points but the top got left on.

Duckypoohs · 20/09/2021 19:43

I think you would need to take it off to put the stickers on, then cover you over while it does its thing

nostaples · 20/09/2021 19:45

I had an ECG last week. I was wearing a vest top and soft bra with no underwiring (I am quite small up top). Kept my top and bra on throughout they just pulled it up to put the stickers below boobs and then pulled the wires through at the top. I wouldn't have been particularly bothered if I'd had to take everything off but there was no requirement to.

LoveFall · 20/09/2021 19:48

I had one last year and had to remove everything on top. They gave me a paper thingy to cover myself.

Sidge · 20/09/2021 19:53

I ask patients to remove their bra and top but use their own clothes to keep them covered in between applying the stickers and attaching the leads.

You can’t do an ECG properly with normal clothing on really, but it should be carried out sensitively and with discretion.

Thought it was strange that she let me keep my jumper. Obviously would have removed it but she didn’t say she wanted it off

I had two ECGs this summer and I kept my bra and t-shirt on for both. The paramedic / nurse both just moved my t-shirt up/down as necessary, and my bra didn't seem to cause any problems.

romdowa · 20/09/2021 20:55

I've always kept my top on for an ecg.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 20/09/2021 20:56

Im a nurse. No you cannot, it needs to come off.

PlanDeRaccordement · 20/09/2021 20:57

I had one last month and took my shirt off but kept my sports bra on.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/09/2021 20:58

I've had one with a bralette on but they will need access to your whole chest.

Hollyhead · 20/09/2021 20:58

I had two in a&e with blouse and top on. Was surprised as have always had to have full removal before.

jenniuol · 20/09/2021 21:02

I had one last week after being taken to a and e. I already had a gown on anyway but they took it right down to do the ecg. So yeah topless basically. It was over in minutes though.

InnPain · 20/09/2021 21:05

I unbuttoned mines as had buttons down the middle. Wear a zip hoodie and just let the zip down if that makes you feel less exposed. That way you’re partially covered I guess.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 21/09/2021 13:17

I had to remove everything as if bra is under wired it affects the reading

JustAnotherFuckingMonday · 22/09/2021 07:15

I had an ecg on Monday..didn't have to remove anything.
In fact, I've not had to remove anything for an ecg for years, and I have 1-2 every 6 months or so.

Littleants · 22/09/2021 08:24

Long as they can get the stickers and wires on, you should at the very leadt be sble to keep your bra on. Depends on the type of top. I had two ecg, one with t shirt pulled up, the other I was given a gown to wear instead.

GinIronic · 22/09/2021 08:29

I’ve had many. Bra top and blouse always stayed on.

Samanabanana · 22/09/2021 08:37

Top off but you can keep your bra on (assuming you wear one!) If it's stretchy

TitoMojito · 22/09/2021 08:48

I had to take my top off but could leave my bra on. But I wear tank tops everywhere so it wasn't really going to work leaving it on.
