Starting to buy some presents any ideas for this age?

This probably isn't helpful but your question is like asking what 32 year olds like. They're all very different by that age. I'd go for something generic like vouchers or toiletries.

I think it’s so dependent on their personality that you can’t generalise! My niece is that age, and for Christmas I have got her little crossbody bag, some delicate gold earrings and some gold hair ornaments.

She also likes nice stationery, art supplies, fairy lights, vouchers for H&M, anything Japanese. But I also know kids who aren’t into any of that!

14yo niece asked for lego for her birthday after not really liking it as a child (the adult collectible sets rather than child sets... she love the Hogwarts Express and Hedwig for example)

In my experience teens love their bedrooms so stuff to make their rooms nice & cosy/cool go down well. E.g:

Teddy bear bedding
Rugs
Posters
Japanese/kawaii style cushions
Oodies
Lamps/fairy lights
Pin/white boards
Desk accessories - chair,mousemat,tidy etc

Lego sets that can be displayed are good, Harry Potter, Friends, architecture city range & some creator sets like the fish tank are great. Also nano blocks are great, bit fiddly but fun.

I would say vouchers are the best at that age. Either clothing or stationary/books.

Notcontent · 20/09/2021 16:54

I really do think you need to ask the 14 year old in question (or someone who knows them well) as you can get this completely wrong!

My dd is really into homewards for her room, for example, but has very specific taste.

theliverpoolone · 20/09/2021 17:34

I won't even buy my own 14yr old dd something without checking with her first, she can be so specific about what she likes/doesn't!

Gift cards or bathbombs are probably safest.

SuperStarRose · 20/09/2021 17:43

Honestly either ask them or give them money

Doomscrolling · 20/09/2021 17:46

It varies so widely! Just ask her.

MardyintheBoudoir · 20/09/2021 17:48

Crystals are very popular right now.

HelenaJustina · 20/09/2021 17:48

My nearly 14 yr old is currently into sewing, succulents, stuff for her room, Amazon voucher, iTunes voucher, she’d love an Oodie, she’s getting a new phone case and ring as a birthday present from her sister. She’d enjoy a baking subscription or something else through the post every month.

SingingGoldfinch · 20/09/2021 17:49

Totally depends on the individual as others have said. My now 15 yo DD is into totally different things to my friends daughter the same age. Things for the bedroom is probably a safe middle ground though - big fluffy cushions, fairy lights, those LED lights that you can control via an app on phone are also very popular. Failing that vouchers - Amazon, New Look or H&M probably safe bets.

My 15 year old loves her portable bluetooth speaker.

SingingGoldfinch · 20/09/2021 17:51

@MacavityTheDentistsCat Bluetooth speaker is a good shout. My DD loves hers too!
