Have just spent a weekend in Abergavenny. I really liked it. DH and I are thinking of moving, is it a good place to live. What’s the vibe

Isn't it riddled with social problems? Poverty and crime?

A beautiful town with a cinema, theatre, market and lots of great shops & cafe’s. People come from all over to visit. Go for it!

Food festival is great

Abergavenny? I think you've got confused with somewhere else Confused

@Queenofthesilverdollar it's nice, but it's very in the sticks. Young people all leave because there's nothing for them post 18. Do you have DC? Where do you live now?

MissBattleaxe · 28/01/2022 20:04

@FortunesFave where did you get that from? Abergavenny is gorgeous. Great market, lovely lite indie shops, great food scene and it's on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Also it's only 3 train stops from Cardiff.

MissBattleaxe · 28/01/2022 20:04

Little not lite

Mistymoors · 28/01/2022 20:05

Not far from me, lovely town and market , surrounded by beautiful countryside but as the previous poster said could be a bit boring if you have teenagers !! Quite close to Hereford though !!

🤣

There's an FE college in Hereford that a lot of older kids go to. It's only one train stop. There's also a campaign to open up a lido again.

Lovely town. A465 has improved, so quicker getting over to Merthyr/Cardiff way.
Close to the Brecon Beacons.

MumOfOne55 · 28/01/2022 20:13

Oh and they’ve got a leisure centre that’s just been refurbished, plus bailey park & Linda Vista Gardens

Loved going to the market there then for a walk around the canal, with all the lovely canal boats. I would imagine its a quiet place to live.
