Breast pain and lactation

My breast is extremely painful and has been for a while. I have just noticed that I am leaking clear lactation. It is painful with and without a bra. I don't know what to do. Can anybody help? Has anyone had anything similar? Thank you xx

Are you pregnant? Breast feeding?

ButterflyBailey · 20/09/2021 06:08

I'm not breastfeeding and don't think I'm pregnant. I did do a pregnancy test just using an internet cheapie earlier and it doesn't show a second line. @KindergartenKop

I'd be off to the GP to get that checked out.

You need to see a Gp to have it checked but it could be something as simple as raised prolactin levels which can happen for lots of reasons. I’ve had a harmless prolactin secreting tumour for 20 years and it’s just controlled with medication. Many people just take a short course of medication and it cures it completely.

My shoulders are now very much aching too. I have been told by a family member not to tell my GP. Is this a mistake? I think I need to. I also don't want to bother them if it turns out to be nothing though. Right now I feel sick, painful breasts, painful shoulders, nipple discharge. I have a negative hcg test. I really don't want to go to A&E either. Should I see how it is tomorrow?

I wouldn't put this off. Tell your GP everything.

Yes, I will.
