Does this sound like a uti

Pain when urinating. Lower stomach pain and a bad smell. Also feels like I have urine stuck that won’t come out. Been going on since Friday morning.

Yes. You need antibiotics the sooner the better. Meanwhile take some painkillers as it's miserable.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 18/09/2021 23:10

Can you actually pass urine, though, even if it feels like it’s stuck and won’t come out?

Youcanbesweet · 18/09/2021 23:15

Thanks both Yes it does come out eventually. Only problem is my GP never answer the phone and with e consult it can take 24 hours for a response

I called 111 last time this happened to me. They gave me an out of hours appointment with a GP on the weekend.

campion · 18/09/2021 23:26

Is there a walk in/ out of hours or similar that you could go to tomorrow? I think you may have to go through 111 for that at the moment.
I wouldn't wait until Monday, but that's because I know that mine would be worse by then.

Butterfly3005 · 18/09/2021 23:30

Ring around your local pharmacies as some now do UTI testing to take the pressure off the NHS but not many people know about it. As it's night time it's probably best/quicker to ring 111.

Hugs, I currently have a UTI, they're horrible!

hairybakers · 18/09/2021 23:33

Ohhh I had something so similar last week. Eventually got through to GP surgery and the receptionist asked me to come in to do a urine sample in a pot, the nurse tested it then I came back later to collect my antibiotics

So didn't actually need to see a GP in the end

But yes. Sounds like an infection, antibiotics and plenty of water.

Hate that feeling where you're sat on the loo and want to pee more but you can't and mentally it feels like you're going to wet yourself but you're literally ON THE LOO.
Ugh. The worst.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 18/09/2021 23:39

Just be careful with assuming it’s just a UTI which will be dealt with by a telephones consultation, wee sample then antibiotics. We had an emergency dash to the children’s A and E on Monday because my teenage son had been having problems with what we (and the GP via telephone consultation only) had assumed were UTIs, yet turned out to be a structural issue and he developed acute urinary retention (a medical emergency).

If you continue to have issues even if you can get this episode cleared up with antibiotics, don’t just keep phoning for more.

Youcanbesweet · 19/09/2021 09:34

Thanks everyone will they be to give me antibiotics without a sample? Currently in with young ds who may have Covid. If they prescribe anti bionics I can ask someone if they will go and get them.

I really doubt it. I guess you'd have to ask someone to go collect a sterile urine collection pot then ask them to drop it off again. Then once they test it you'll get prescribed the antibiotics

Lazyonthesofa · 19/09/2021 16:17

I have phoned 111 and had a prescription sent straight to Boots.

campion · 19/09/2021 17:33

Good result. Hope you feel better soon

MrsPumpkinSeed · 19/09/2021 17:36

Superdrug online sell antibiotics after consultation questionnaire

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 19/09/2021 17:38

I wouldn't be able to cope with the pain for this long. Last time I had one in got progressively worse during one day and by the evening the Doctors were closing and I was in so much pain I went to walk in. First sample didn't show anything but they asked me to do another when I was seen about 3 hours later and sorry for tmi but it looked like rose wine. It was full of blood. Be careful and make sure you get seen soon xx
