I need something nice o drink in the evenings.

I've cut wine down to weekends only.
Herbal tea seems to have joined black tea on the migraine trigger list
I can't sleep if drink coffee in the evenings
Trying to cut back on Diet coke, fanta etx
Tonic is also a migraine trigger

Which is leaving squash at the moment... but wanting something nicer!

Any ideas?
Thank you

Depending on whether trace amounts of alcohol are ok for you, a rock shandy is a great drink. Equal parts lemonade and soda water with a few drops of angostura bitters. It's the most refreshing summer drink.

[quote brazenandstrange]I drank some of this with fizzy water the other night when waiting to pick teens up from a party.

It didn't taste like a kids drink at all.

I really like this too

Iced tea? The cold diffuses bags are nice. Worth a try to see if they don't trigger migraines.

I'm really enjoying water with LOTS of ice and a slice of lemon or lime at the moment

PickAChew · 18/09/2021 17:18

It it all herbal teas? I can't drink any of the ones with licorice in. I normally drink chamomile which is more like slightly more interesting water!

@anotherwinkywinkybumbum thanks for that link. Lots of good ideas on there.

I tend to drink water/sparkling water on an evening. Then as an alternative to an alcoholic drink:

Flavoured tonic water (Fevertree)
Alcohol free lager
Everleaf and tonic (really nice alcohol alternative to Gin - I like Marine and Mountain versions)
Belvoir drinks

I generally look for drinks with natural sugar only, not 'no added sugar' and the artificial sweeteners included.

I like ginger ale, I don't drink fizzy drinks usually but this is a nice in between.

I also make a mug of ginger tea in the morning, then later I add it to an water bottle with a load of ice. I'll put some kind of fruit in it, a strawberry etc which give it a hint of sweetness. You could use honey when you make the tea.

Or Rooibos tea, which is tannin and caffeine free. I do like a cup of that later in the day but also make up my ice drinks with that as the base.

Otherwise proper lemonade, the juiced version, not fizzy. Fruit juices, squash, rock Shandy, passion fruit and lemonade, lime and water are ones I can think off the top of my head.
