I've learned that I need to clean out my inhalers properly then let them dry thoroughly.

I've now got several unclogged inhalers - that hadn't run out when they stopped working

I learned an irrefutable argument to the anti vaxxers in my circle that say they won't have the vaccine as vaxxed people still spread it anyway, so it clearly doesn't work/is fake because no other vaccine works this way

The chicken pox one does. You get a milder version but are still contagious if vaxxed.

I had no idea about this as the chicken pox vaccine wasn't around in my day and my friends don't have kids so I've never come across it.

I've now learnt that people keep a few old inhaler plastic dispensers in sealed bags, ready for when they get clogged dispensers!

My anti-vaxxing friends have almost all become ex-friends. I lost older relatives to covid right at the beginning. I think my stance on masking and rule following was extra rigid due to me being extra cautious as a result. I was likely more antagonistic to them and set them off.

It's the nasty arrogance of it all - where they have to spread their misinformation and belittle those that won't follow them. None of them seem to know anything about vaccines, viruses or transmission and they refuse to find out from reputable sources.

I keep viewing jobs where they want everything, qualifications, experience and horrendous hours for just over minimum wage. I think many employees don't recognise their own worth.

I've learnt that some inhalers get clogged (from you OP). In the 35 years I've had asthma I don't think any of my inhalers have clogged up. I've had 1 or 2 duff ones that didn't work even from brand new but I've never had one that's stopped working before the medicine ran out!

I learnt that there's an animal called a sea cow from my 4 year old. I didn't believe him and thought he meant a seal but I googled it and he's right!

Oh yes. sea cows are my very favourite critter. I saw them in Amsterdam Zoo decades ago now when I was staying with friends.

They are totally.... just ….. huge and cumbersome and... Love them.. and the calves... Thank you for mentioning them. I used to say they are so ugly they are beautiful..

romdowa · 18/09/2021 17:02

I've learned that bump clicks are an actual thing and that I wasn't going mad thinking I could hear a click when my baby kicked.

SoloISland · 18/09/2021 17:04

Learned today that even a bad day passes eventually.. As Shakespeare said, Time and the hour run through the roughest day...

PandemicAtTheDisco · 18/09/2021 17:10

Apparently I need to clean my inhaler dispensers every week, according to the instructions.

There are sea slugs too.

I was at a show where they performed the 'Cancan' dance - my baby started kicking along.

Same with a flu vaccine. You can get still get flu just hopefully not as bad.

People need to realise that vaccines don't stop you getting something 🤦🏻‍♀️.

My DS had his nasal flu vac today. It was a live vaccine and he can't be around anyone who is immunosuppressed for at least 5 days.

That a sarsen stone is made of a type of sandstone called sarcen which happens to be used for a lot of standing stones.

Sarcen stone does not mean standing stone.

CleverPolly3 · 18/09/2021 17:16

I’ve learned that some people are so desperate to hurt you that they resort to colluding with people that have come close to destroying your life.
It won’t work though. Just so you know

Laiste · 18/09/2021 17:17

That you can train a cat to eat daddy long-legs.

Laiste · 18/09/2021 17:18

Daddy long-legses?

Daddy long-legi ?

CleverPolly3 · 18/09/2021 17:20

That you can train a cat to eat daddy long-legs.
Remarkably quick at dispatching them after a while
Passthecake30 · 18/09/2021 17:22

I learnt/heard about Gillick competence, after receiving an email from school.

Bloodybridget · 18/09/2021 17:34

I learned to play C major and E major scales in contrary motion, two octaves. Having a last-ditch attempt at piano!

I also learned that I am now unable to clean the whole house in one go. Or two, or three goes. Our cleaner is away, and sorely missed.

PandemicAtTheDisco · 18/09/2021 17:34

Is that consent to medical treatment above a certain age?

GlobalForce · 18/09/2021 17:40

I have no PayPal account and will not be getting one. I was told they "held" someone's money for six months and blocked them buying or selling using their platform.

I have no crypto currency and I am wondering what people like me will do in the future because it's looking like online transactions are going totally digital.

coodawoodashooda · 18/09/2021 17:41

I learned that being a single parent has endless hurdles.

vampirethriller · 18/09/2021 17:43

That you can make falafels in a waffle maker.

Littleants · 18/09/2021 17:44

That laws on employment time directives apparently don’t apply to security people. Or decent pay

Babyroobs · 18/09/2021 17:45

To make the most of each day after losing a friend at the age of 51 very suddenly. She was the fittest person I know - always walking miles or running marathons. It has truly shaken me.

Bloodybridget · 18/09/2021 17:49

@foxyloxy1+1 thanks for that, I've been noticing green stripes and didn't know what they meant!
