How is Liam Gallagher allowed to perform all Oasis songs live?

Just watching IOW. I mean its abit Karoake but I do like the old Oasis songs. I thought it was the brother who owned them and they hate each other? Would Noel perform live and sing the same songs?

I've thought this too. I though Noel wrote most of their songs.

I believe the feud is more of a publicity stunt.

Noel has said publicly that as long as Liam signs the pink royalty slip at the end of each set he really doesn't care what Liam plays

I don't know a huge amount about Oasis but didn't Liam sing those songs? I don't know who owns them, but I'm sure that Noel would have said no if he didn't want him to.

I’d imagine Noel has the rights to them and lets his brother sing them, oasis was a team effort after all.

It's all Liam has. Noel is the musician and creative force of the two. I wouldn't pay to see Liam as his one trick, his singing, is much diminished and he sounds terrible now.

Liam Gallagher is amazing live and his last 2 solo albums are both bloody brilliant. Track for track brilliant imo. Also love all noels solos stuff. Have noticed both Noel and Liam gigs that a lot of people are only there for the oasis stuff. In fact Noel even mentioned it at a Nottingham gig years ago!

I’m a massive Liam fan, obviously. 😂 He has to pay Noel to perform the songs.
Noel has recently said that Liam is having more solo success than he is, nice of him. 😬 I like Liams solo stuff and he’s really good live.

You don't have to get permission from the indvidual artist or songwriter to cover their songs live. Music venues have licences for musical performance that cover all the relevant permissions.

Liam has to fill in a form saying what songs are played and then Noel gets his money so he’s happy!

A form? Like in triplicate or something? Very old school!

It’s called a PRS form....Noel mentions them often to wind Liam up. 😂

Duran Duran are on tomorrow in IOW. Andy Taylor has formed his own band and is touring and also singing some Duran Duran stuff at his gigs so I guess they have some sort of arrangement over it. Maybe he signed a form too?

And all the ‘banter’ 🤢 keeps everyone interested in the possible getting back together of Oasis seemingly. I prefer Liam minus his brother personally.

I never liked Oasis, didn’t really get the hype when they were big. Liam’s permanent anorak and seemingly having the microphone too low all the time.
I imagine if they ever hit back together everyone would lose their minds over it.

It’s in Liam’s interests to sing the Oasis classics which the fans who buy tickets to his shows want to hear. It’s in Noel’s interests to collect the resultant royalty payments for no effort on his part. Win-win.

I don’t know how it works exactly but I know venues have a license so that artists can do other peoples songs. They list the songs they perform on the PRS form and then the person whose songs they are gets paid. Whether the venue, the singer, or the license covers this payment, I don’t know. Just know Noel has mentioned it a few times.

I was a big Oasis fan back in the day and actually loved Noel. But I think he doesn’t comes across that great now, seems a bit rude to fans. I’ve got a soft spot for Liam now he’s finally grown up a bit... as you do when your pushing 50. 😂

I think Liam’s got more talent than anyone credited him for, I like some of his music now, whereas Noel’s isn’t so good. I would quite like to see Liam perform live.

I still struggle to know which one is which! Whenever I learn it, it goes straight out of my head again.
