Dream sex of child when pregnant?

With DC1 I dreamt we were having a girl and we had DD. DC2 due in early April and dreamt of a boy and girl just before the positive test, so feel like we'll have a boy. Anyone else dream of the sex of their child before they had them and it turn out to be true or not? There's a 50:50 chance I guess either way!

NIPT test was done earlier this week so we should know next week along with more importantly any health complications but I will update.

Meant to be lighthearted as I'm sure I've dreamt I've turned into an eagle before and that hasn't happened yet!

Eagle dream, how strange and lovely.

I didn't dream the sex, I just "knew" each time. Declined to find out sex at scans as we had no issues.

Best wishes for you and your baby.

I always wanted a boy then two girls and that’s exactly what I got.
So I’ve always felt very luck in that way.

If I was going to have all the same sex I’d want them to be all girls.

I was wrong every time

When I was pregnant with dd2 I dreamt that instead of giving birth to a baby, I gave birth to a bar code. The midwives then scanned it and came back with what looked like a pattern, that I had to take downstairs in the hospital and they gave me my baby.
In my dream I was thinking how they'd organised it so much better than when I gave birth to dd1.

In case you're wondering, that didn't happen and I had to give birth the normal way. Grin

Yep. First pregnancy had a dream of a toddler (girl) learning to ride a bike. Had another dream of an older girl riding a pony. Then I had a dream I had a baby boy & in the dream the baby wouldn't stop crying so I put him in a pram & left him. I was certain from those dreams I was having a girl & I did.

Every dream I had about DS before he was born, he was a beautiful blond boy, and that's exactly what I got Smile

SinisterBumFacedCat · 18/09/2021 00:21

Yes, dreamt of a boy, even though I didn’t know I was pregnant. I always thought I would have a daughter but as soon as I had that dream I wanted a boy.

MouseholeCat · 18/09/2021 00:30

We found out the sex at 13 weeks (girl) after doing the NIPT but in all my dreams my baby has been a cat. I've never once dreamed of her being a human baby!

liltreasuretree · 18/09/2021 00:49

I had a dream when I was 6 weeks pregnant with my first that I was out shopping for pink clothes and I did indeed have a DD.
I didn't have a dream with my second child tho, my DS.

Also, a couple of years ago I had a dream that my partners brother and his partner were pregnant with a girl. I never told them because they'd never actually made it clear they wanted children. Anyway, about 3 or 4 months later they told us they'd had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. I still wonder to this day if my dream was right but I've always kept it to myself x

Was birthing the barcode easier than birthing a baby? If so I can get onboard with this dream of yours. Grin

I dreamt I had a baby girl when I was pregnant the first time. Must have dreamt it 5 times. Had a boy, and another boy since then too

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 18/09/2021 02:23

I dreamt both times that I had baby boys - and both turned out to be boys.

Worryingly, I sometimes dream that I give birth to a girl. I'm 52, post menopausal, and have had both ovaries removed, so it's highly unlikely 😁

Unsure1983 · 18/09/2021 02:28

I had 1 dream of boy then 4 dreams of girl with DD. Everyone thought I would have a boy but I knew she was a girl.

Pikamoo · 18/09/2021 05:44

I didn't have any dreams but I felt like I knew with both of them. DD I felt from around 12 weeks that she was a girl and found out shortly after from NIPT that I was right. DS I had a really strong feeling at 6 weeks that he was a boy.

RossIsTheBestFriend · 18/09/2021 06:01

@Geluksvogel I didn’t have a dream but as other have said, I just “knew”. As soon as I seen the positive pregnancy test I knew it was a boy.
DH was convinced we were having girl, as was everyone else in the family. I work in retail and I constantly had customers telling me I was having a girl. We went for a private scan (during covid so went so DH could attend) and marked on the form that we did NOT want to know the sex. They gave us away a printed report and when I looked through it when we got home it had the baby’s sex on it - female 😬
DH was ecstatic because he’d been “right” all along. I warned him not to tell anyone because I just KNEW it was a boy 🤣 obviously at this point he thinks I’ve lost the plot 🙈

Baby was born 15 weeks later....BOY 🤣👏🏼

Geluksvogel · 18/09/2021 08:01

@MargaretThursday - birth by barcode with a collection after would be epic!

@RossIsTheBestFriend - how amazing that you were convinced despite being inadvertently told you were having a girl!

I have no gut instinct and didn't with the first just a vivid dream around 6 weeks with both. In both dreams I only saw them from behind. Also in the 2nd dream with both of them together they were the same age and running so around 18 months which is the age of DD now. This is IVF again and the embryos are all from the same collection so the same age. It's just weird.

Really have no preference on either sex. Just if possible a healthy baby.

When pregnant with ds I had one dream that the baby was a girl, which is bizarre as I knew he was a boy from the second I got a positive test - so in my case the dream didn't match my gut feeling.

Pregnant again now and no idea of the sex this time!

ThatWardrobe · 18/09/2021 08:14

I dreamed dc2 was a boy the night before my scan. It turned out to be right. But dd's ballet teacher was the sonographer in the same dream. This was not the case.

Trinacham · 18/09/2021 08:43

I dreamt of a baby girl in a cot beside my bed in early pregnancy. My sister too had a dream that I had a girl. Then my 6 year old niece said she had visions of the baby being a girl. On top of that, all but 1 or 2 people who know us have just guessed girl.

It was such a happy shock and surprise to find out at our 20 week scan that we are having a boy! Couldn't believe it. We are over the moon (we would have been either way, this is our first child and did not mind either way!)

We were so convinced we were having a girl that the excitement and surprise that we were actually having a boy was like finding out about the pregnancy all over again 🥰

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/09/2021 09:08

I dreamed of having a boy and I did.

TheGirlWhoLived · 18/09/2021 09:10

Pregnancy dreams are what I miss most I think! I dreamt I had the baby but it was a potato, so everyone jovially laughed and we put it on the shelf

@Geluksvogel I can’t even explain it - I just knew 🤷🏻‍♀️ It was such a weird feeling. I’d have been genuinely so shocked if they’d told me I’d had a girl at the birth! I had absolutely no preference at all which is why I wasn’t bothered about finding out at scans etc - I just wanted a healthy baby.
I hope your pregnancy goes well OP 😊

Whengodwasarabbit · 18/09/2021 15:42

When I was pg with my second I dreamed of a baby girl with brown curly hair wearing a lemon dress sat next to our bedroom door, she had beautiful tanned skin and big brown eyes and her toenails had been painted with nail polish, she looked exactly like our first son.
I told my husband all about this dream, and took it as a sign. It was so vivid
Baby turned out to be a boy, and I never thought about this dream again until my son was about 18 months and was sat next to our bedroom door wearing a his brothers lemon t shirt so it was big on him, brown skin big brown eyes, looked exactly like his brother and I had that week painted his toenails in blue nail polish. I would have completely forgotten about that dream I had during my pg if it wasn’t that that exact image happened.

How exciting!! Congratulations on your boy, I have 2 and they’re brilliant!

I dreamt of a blonde boy with both of my pregnancies. Which was weird to me as DH and I are dark haired. I’ve got two very blonde boys. I think this time around I’m having a little girl, I’m due early October so it won’t be long until I find out if I was right again
