A question about the tax free childcare account

Quick question as I'm new to this...

If I deposit £300 and my partner does the same (so two separate deposits) will we get the full 20% top up or do they only top up one deposit a month?

TIA

Anything you put in is then topped up by the government by the 20% so you should get the full amount .

Everything you put in will be topped up by 20% up to your quarterly limit. But it's a pain to do (the website is so poorly designed) so you are probably better just doing it once from one account, less faffing about, so either a joint account or one of you transfers money to the other and then that person goes in and makes the deposit.

You can make as many deposits as you like. I do the payments direct from my bank account, rather than via the website, and it's dead simple but the money doesn't show in the TFC account until the next working day

You have a limit of how much the government will top up every 4 months. Its £500.

So if you they have already topped your account up and received the full £500, any money you put in on top of that before your quarterly amount resets wont be topped up.

You can bank transfer the money to make it deposit the amount quicker into the account if you need to pay a childcare provider quickly. Using your debit card takes about 2 days longer.

Thanks so much everyone.

It was only Mumsnet that could answer the 'name on the account' drama for me too!

Much appreciated.
