Eastbourne? Me and DH want to move out of London in the next few years and I've fallen in love with Lewes, but it is going to be hard to find a forever house in our budget there. Is Eastbourne similar? It seems a bit more affordable which is good, but I'm not sure if there's a good reason for that...

Bits of it are, like Meads? Or even East Dean but it’s remote.

Following OP. How did your scout around go?

Have you looked at Rye?

We haven't been doing as much exploring because of the petrol situation but went down to Eastbourne and loved Meads - very Lewes-y feel but much more affordable. We're also investigating Kent - Faversham seems nice.

And we haven't looked at Rye yet, but it's on the list!
