Sleeplessness - At what point do you give up?

Been awake since 4.15, alarm due to go off at 6.40, I gave up trying to get back to sleep and came online at 5.45 as if I did manage to fall asleep then I'd feeling even worse when I was woken up.

Would you do the same? Or is it worth trying for the extra hour?

I have terrible sleep (thanks menopause). I have learnt to live with it and rest with a podcast if I can't sleep. Last night I was awake from 1 to 4, dropped off until 5.30 then gave up and put an audiobook on.

Went to bed shattered at 9 and saw 1am then up at 5.10. I've got drs this morning however judging by the drs tone yesterday he won't even entertain the menopause. I'm fed up of being an overtired emotional wreck.

Try for the extra hour if you can. I collapsed at work due to not sleeping.

I think I'm in perimenopause (46) I am awake at 4 or 5 most mornings. I try to get back to sleep sometimes but often find i feel worse for it.

Insomnia is the worst.

I had to leave work sick earlier in the week as I’d had so little sleep I was completely unable to function ( frowned up by Mumsnet I know).

If you can get an extra hour I’d take it
