Car insurance premium refund

Any car insurance people here? I had an accident that wrote off my car after only one month's insurance. Insurance are paying me the princely sum of 75.00 as a payout against my car. I paid the full year in full. Will any of the premium be refunded? They've said that I can continue the policy on a new vehicle. Some vehicle that will be at 75 quid! It is a multi car policy.

Have you asked them?
They should refund the premium less the excess of the claim

also what value was the car insured for? If you can find similar cars to yours (mileage/ condition etc) you can challenge the pay out
Seems low

Should say find similar cars on autotrader etc for more than £74 you can challenge the payout

The premium won't be refunded. It doesn't make a difference if you have an accident in the first or eleventh month of the policy. If you'd only paid a month then you'd have to pay the other eleven also.

They said the premium will be used towards the next car. Insurance was 950.00 and car was insured for 1500.00. They used something called caps guide for the value.

The full term of the policy will be due if any claim is made, sounds like the excess and outstanding premium was deducted from you total loss.

Sundaynightnamechange · 16/09/2021 17:44

Sorry scarp that I can see you paid the full premium upfront.

Have you challenged the valuation?
Our initial valuation was very low but we found the same model of car, similar age, mileage, condition and service history. The insurance company gave us a settlement which we were happy with.

Should have said we found the similar car on autotrader.
