What are your favourite slow cooker meals? Something I can prepare in the morning, we can get home late and just serve up straight away, not needing to cook rice, dumplings etc before serving?

Jambalaya. The recipe broke it up into do this then three hours later do that. I was going out so did everything at once and belissima!

Sausage casserole is a winner here. We use one of those sachets I think it's by Schwartz. We add in butter beans and serve with crusty bread we grab a tiger loaf on way home

Also for rice things eg curry or chilli, microwave rice is fab!

Coq au vin!
Beef stew and dumplings

You can make rice pudding in them too!

CiaoForNiao · 16/09/2021 16:35

Slimming world bbq pulled gammon.
I usually serve it with rice/mash/jacket potato but you could have it with crusty bread. Or microwave rice/potato.

Ds loves beef stew and dumplings too. The recipe I use has potatoes in anyway so it doesn't need any thing else with it.

Chilli & packet rice

Redwinestillfine · 16/09/2021 16:41

Meatballs, gammon with sliced onions on the bottom, Lasagne, a side dish with chorizo, potatoes, butter beans and tomatoes that I serve with fish...

Dahl or a chickpea curry with microwave rice.

There are some great soup recipes.

chili con carne
lamb shank tagine
I second coq au vin (although I tend to oven cook this in my cast iron casserole dish)

Ricekrispie22 · 16/09/2021 16:47

Tagine www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/slow-cooker_lamb_and_79282 served with flatbreads

Cupidity · 16/09/2021 16:49

I do chilli con carne, meatballs, beef stew, as my regular slow-cooker meals. Occasionally I'll do a vegan curry (and just chuck in some prawns at the end).

The lamb and sweet potato tagine linked above is BEAUTIFUL, and I actually often cook it for guests. It’s brilliant if you’re out with the kids all day but still need a nice dinner for the grown ups later! We have it with fruity couscous, tzatziki and flatbreads, heaven.

Other favourites are…
Chorizo and sweet potato soup
Beef bourginon (lots of button mushrooms and red wine!)
Bbq pulled pork; served with microwave root veg mash and baked beans.

Brisket. Bung it in.pour a bottle of beer over it. Leave it for 24 hours. Take out. Eat as a roast or pull and have with coleslaw in rolls.

AnUnlikelyCombination · 16/09/2021 20:49

Tesco’s slow cooker lamb curry, served with naan bread. I’ve adapted it so it’s less fiddly, and tasty rather than spicy. It’s also good with rice, if you have time or buy the microwave sort.

Antinerak · 16/09/2021 21:05

Leek and potato soup. Easy as anything and can be roughly chopped and not blitzed with blender. Chuck some orzo in to make it go further

MeredithMae · 18/09/2021 21:52

I make bbq pulled pork (the slimming world recipe on their website) and it's DELICIOUS. Just use a cheap pork shoulder from Aldi. Easy peasy. Serve with mash and beans, or pile into buns with corn on the cob. We mix all the ingredients in a bowl then tip in. Simples.

Also, gammon with a can of cherry coke or lemonade. Literally that. Voila!
