Restaurant recommendations in Manchester

Choconuts · 16/09/2021 08:42

I'm staying in Manchester City centre for a concert next Friday and looking for recommendations for somewhere to eat late afternoon/early evening. I would really appreciate it if someone could recommend somewhere. Not concerned about cost as first time out out for 18 months!!!! Thanks Smile

Six by Nico perhaps? Have a great time out!

gobbynorthernbird · 16/09/2021 08:48

Any particular type of food?

ReviewingTheSituation · 16/09/2021 08:51

I've never been, but Kala is very much on my list. We had their 'at home' menu twice in lockdown and the food was amazing.

We live in the midlands so can't eat there ourselves, but we are breaking our journey back from Scotland next week specifically to visit one of the restaurants in the same group. Can't wait!

Australasia. Bit short notice

What sort of thing do you like and what sort of vibe/feel were you hoping for

TheOnlyMrsW · 16/09/2021 14:24

Who are you seeing? I always choose food depending on how much jumping about there will be later!!!

AuntieMarys · 16/09/2021 14:27

Evuna...tapas

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 16/09/2021 14:28

Umezushi is absolutely outstanding but it's sushi, sushi or sushi and very authentic Japanese so if that's not your thing, it won't be your thing.

Mana is amazing, Manchester's only (at time of writing) Michelin starred restaurant. I've been twice, it's brilliant.

(If you weren't pre-gigging I'd suggest Where The Light Gets In too, as it is also wonderful. But it's in Stockport, so not convenient for what you're after this time.)

InnPain · 16/09/2021 16:08

What sort of food do you like?

RockallMalinHebrides · 16/09/2021 17:10

Indian Tiffin Room
20 Stories
Dishoom

RockallMalinHebrides · 16/09/2021 17:11

San Carlo - several available

Soberfutures · 16/09/2021 17:12

Luck lust liquor and burn in the northern quarter. Mexican very tasty. Or a tram ride to brewski bar.

Panda368 · 17/09/2021 13:56

On Mirabel Street? A friend of mine was there last weekend. There are photos...

I think it shut in 2019 but reopened again.

Refuge is amazing

BarbaraofSeville · 18/09/2021 07:23

You might be out of luck for a popular place for Friday tea time because if it's anything like Leeds recently Friday and Saturdays are booked up weeks in advance, especially if there's a big gig on.

If you want treaty tapas, El Gato Negro would be my choice.

Stasiland · 18/09/2021 07:45

@Panda368 wanted to go to Sparrows for ages !
