A 'quick shower' is an extremely relative term in my family

I had just finished my shower this morning and DH said he was having a quick shower. I stayed in the bathroom getting dressed and he was showered and dry before I had finished, so maybe four or five minutes. He is very efficient, wet everywhere, soap everywhere, rinse.

DS announced he's having a 'quick shower' before his friends come over, he's still in there nearly 30 mins later. His friends have arrived and have been playing on the Xbox for nearly 20 mins. Grin

at least he's showing op

Yes, I've had other owners of teenage boys be envious of that. He's always been a lover of baths and showers, it's getting him out again that's the challenge.

The shower has literally been running for 30 minutes or he's been in the bathroom for 30 minutes?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/09/2021 16:18

Literally been running for 30 minutes. Nearly 40 mins at this stage. I'm about to go up and flick the light switch on and off.

Similar happens here..two teenage boys

RunningStrong · 15/09/2021 16:21

My bathroom is literally rotting because of the length of time DS1 spends in the shower. Never less than 30 mins and often a lot more. The bathroom is always wet.

I know people will say don't allow it, but half the time I'm not here when he showers (so I dread to think how long he's in there without regular banging onto he door) how am I supposed stop it?

I think sometimes it's running while he's sat on the toilet with his phone...

RunningStrong · 15/09/2021 16:22

Sometimes I give a 5 min warning and turn the hot water off, but that only works when I'm here

lisaandalan · 15/09/2021 22:00

Boys lol. When my son has a bath he then has a shower to wash any dirt off that might still be on him from laying in the bath. 🤣🤣

Fizbosshoes · 15/09/2021 22:09

We have a standing joke that DH mentions going to have "quick shower" at least 5 or 6 times over probably about an hour before actually having said shower.which is in fact fairly swift but usually an hour and a half after he first mentioned it and 2 min before we are due to leave the house

Crinkle77 · 15/09/2021 22:16

I think I'd be banging on the door of my son was in the shower that. It's a waste of water and surely expensive?

Mantlemoose · 15/09/2021 22:18

Is it not obvious to anyone but me???

NigellaSeed · 15/09/2021 22:25

When I was a teen id shower for atleast 30mins. And by shower I mean stand under hot water and contemplate the universe. Also, getting out of the hot shower sucks, duh

I am the only female in the house and also the only one that is capable of a quick shower. Our sons have at least 2 20 min showers a day, sometimes 3.

And yes, there is a lot of speculation about wanking.

Laughingravy · 16/09/2021 01:39

A friends 13yo DS is now banned from taking his phone into the bathroom after it became obvious he was just running the shower and not getting in it but just wetting his fringe in the hope of fooling his DM - like as if Hmm
When he does actually shower he's in there 30 mins minimum.
