Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m going in a couple of months and taking my mum there for a big birthday. There will only be 4 of us and don’t want anything ridiculously posh or miles away as we’ll be staying in the centre. Just some really decent food, possibly nice cocktails.

None of us have visited before so we’re all completely blind. Any recommendations gratefully received!

Wishing you a lovely time! There’s a restaurant called Six on the rooftop of the Varsity Hotel which has a lovely view of the city. Decent food and lots of cocktails! A great place!

Parker’s Tavern at the University Arms is lovely for a special birthday. The Ivy and Trinity Restaurant on Trinity Street are both great. The Orator near the Round Church is also good and quite new. Have a great time!

Orator, Ivy Brasserie, Browns, Cote.

Chop House on Kings Parade is great.

Parker’s tavern is lovely.
Feels special, as does the Ivy

I second the Chop House; and Dirty Bones is great too!

We liked The Old Bicycle Shop, Regent Street - definitely ticked the nice cocktails box. Food lovely, too.

Chop house. Have had some awful experiences with delays in food getting served at the ivy unfortunately

Ignore me... Dirty Bones is in Oxford! Sorry 🙈

I love Browns, but it can be noisy due the building. But it is worth going for the building the 1930s outpatients department of the original Victorian hospital.
If you are going during the day it is a stride from the Fitzwilliam museum which is free - and marvellous and down the street from A large number of colleges and the market place.

Browns is lovely

Another vote for the Varsity hotel restaurant/roof bar and cocktails. Amazing.

Parker's tavern and Trinity are both lovely
