Mark's and Spencer's broccoli and spinach soup. Smells fine. Been in the fridge for a week. Date on the pack says use by 11/9. It's now the 15th. Would you????

Yes, but I'd nuke the hell out of it in the microwave (or boil thoroughly in the pan).

SolitaryTree · 15/09/2021 12:54

Does it have any cream or dairy in it?

bigbeachedwales · 15/09/2021 12:55

@SolitaryTree

Does it have any cream or dairy in it?
It says there's low fat yoghurt in it.

Marginal here. And to be honest when things are marginal I tend not to. I’m assuming there is cream/maybe cheese involved ??

Palavah · 15/09/2021 12:57

Did you just open it today? If so I'd nuke it as suggested and then taste carefully. You'll know pretty soon.

Lampan · 15/09/2021 12:57

I’d eat it without a second thought!

FelicityBeedle · 15/09/2021 12:57

I would

Lweji · 15/09/2021 12:58

I would, if never opened. And heat it to boiling point in the microwave.

Insert1x20p · 15/09/2021 12:59

100% eat it. If in doubt taste a tiny bit. You’ll be able to tell if it’s off.

bigbeachedwales · 15/09/2021 13:02

Thanks all. I'm going in........

OP posts:
SolitaryTree · 15/09/2021 13:07

Yeah I’d eat it. I eat yogurt past it’s best and veg so long as it smells and tastes ok.
Was only dubious about any potential cream.

bigbeachedwales · 15/09/2021 14:02

I'm not dead yet.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/09/2021 14:03

I wouldn't even hesitate!

Clymene · 15/09/2021 14:04

I wouldn't hesitate

FAQs · 15/09/2021 14:04

Any dodgy rumbling in the tummy..

I’d have sniff checked and eaten also.

Iamblossom · 15/09/2021 14:17

I would 100%. DH would not 100%. HTH.

AndTime · 15/09/2021 14:35

Sniff, small taste then eat if it seems ok.

Cas112 · 15/09/2021 14:36

Do it!

idontlikealdi · 15/09/2021 14:58

No from me if cream involved!

bigbeachedwales · 15/09/2021 18:48

Still here!! Was delicious. Glad I went for it. Thanks for advice x

I just read this thread in its entirety and thoroughly enjoyed the narrative arc 😂

applecharlotte12 · 15/09/2021 18:57

@DukeOfEarlGrey me too. So satisfying.

tempchecked · 15/09/2021 18:59

If it smells fine it will be fine. Far too much food is wasted because some arbitary date is selected for products to be used by.

Yesterday I had a bowl of full fat Greek yogurt from Aldi with some fresh raspberries and grated white choc on top. Yum... the yogurt was use by1st August, the raspberries use by 31st August, (but they got the vinegar bath when bought first so they last for ages), the only thing in date was the white choc. All fine and tasted great.

FelicityBeedle · 15/09/2021 20:41

Glad you enjoyed it! I cooked tonight with some creme fraiche I opened before we went on holiday start of September, still good! I cook with thing that Gould make a lot of Mnetters faint, and haven’t been ill yet. I don’t feed them to anyone but me and DP
