Friend apps - what's with the pouty/empty profiles?

So I'm on a few and have actually made a few friends but I just don't get the profiles with pouty/sexy photos - no smiling, little-zero info on who they are etc. Surely this is more a dating profile. Still not a very informative one, but does anyone know what I mean?

I just find it a bit bizarre.

I didn’t know there were friend apps. What’s it like tinder but for friends?
I was guilty of doing pouting pictures in my early 20s. I thought I looked good and my lips looked bigger. They are quite silly now I realise.

@MimiDaisy11, yes, it does feel a bit Tinder! Tbh, it's not so much the pouty pictures, it's those pics alongside NO information on them whatsoever.
