Ah, you're all brilliant, thank you - knew MN would deliver! Hopefully they'll turn out well, we have an absolute glut of plums (we have a ridiculously productive tree, planted by previous house owners) so trying to use them. I'll let you know how I get on for anyone else thinking of trying the recipe!

It was really, really lovely - would strongly recommend. I say 'was' because I made it for some mum friends coming round with their babies this afternoon and they scoffed the lot - everyone had a second slice, which feels like a measure of its success!
