Somebody tried to create a bitcoin account with my email address

I twigged when I received a verification request for the email to create that account. Obviously I didn't click on the link even though it was a legit website.

To tighten security, I checked the 2 step verification box and changed my password for my email address.

This has disturbed me a bit so I'm posting to let others know to be super vigilant and ask what else could I do to prevent hacking attempts?

Your email address has probably been sold on from a reputable company that has your email address.

Its a scam. Just delete

I will archive it rather than delete it just in case.

Hypothetically if someone deposited bitcoin in a ln account in your name you could presumably cash it in $$$?
