Confused about green list rules

We’re visiting a green list country (flying out of London) from tomorrow and I’m confusing myself looking at the rules online - the way out seems easier than the way back…?!

To enter the other country we have the paper version of the NHS vaccination certificate, negative antigen test results from yesterday plus the country’s own passenger locator form.

To fly back into England, do we need to do a test while abroad, or 2 days after arriving back or neither / both?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You need a negative test: antigen or PCR, taken within 72 hours of departure back to the UK and a PCR test booked for 2 days after your return.

Thanks for the link, but I’ve got confused looked at so many sites this evening so wanted to ask on here. Assuming any tests we do in the other country need to be official / documented, ie not a lateral flow that we do ourselves?

Correct - some you take with you and register the results on the provider's website, some you video, in some places you can go to a pharmacy locally then register the result. You can't take an NHS LFT with you and register that on the NHS site, that doesn't cut it.

To clarify - there's a list of govt approved providers. If you want to take one with you, you may need to go to a high street testing provider and buy one.

For the 2 day PCR test, it must be booked and paid for before you can complete the plf to fly back in.

Where are you going?

Thanks for replying! We’ll be in Latvia so can hopefully figure out a local test before flying back, and order the day 2 tests while we’re there so we’ll have the proof of purchase to board the plane back and they’ll be waiting at home once we’re back.
