WFH office chair

Do you have a comfortable office chair that you've bought relatively recently? 5 mo pregnant and the knackered old charity shop find in our home office is no longer cutting it. Bonus points if it's grey or white (my spine's important obvs, but so is my little office's 'aesthetic') Grin

Surely your employer is responsible for providing the chair?

LookItsMeAgain · 14/09/2021 15:54

@WineIsMyCarb - I have this (in black) and it's very comfortable.

@MrsDThomas - Some employers are leaving it up to the employee to select a chair and then they reimburse the employee for the cost of the chair.

The chair I have, the back is connected to the seat pan so they can't be adjusted independent of each other. This one does that adjustment and may be better if you're pregnant (for lower back support):

I have just bought one of these for sewing. Bloody expensive but OMG! They are comfortable. Come in all sorts of colours.

I will be getting another once my office is sorted

I know dh's employer did. At first he insisted the ancient office chair that was mine from before we married would do but all the foam disintegrated so he was able to order one via work. Whether it will have to go back is a different matter. I say that as he broke mine, we should get to keep it! There's also the question of how they get it back. He has a 90 mile walk, train, tube and another walk commute. I can just imagine him trying to get it on a train!!

I second this one the millberget one. I also have this in black bought it a few weeks ago and at 6 months pregnancy it's definitely provided a lot more comfort than my knackered old one did

I have this, with the headrest! It's amazing and reduced my long term chronic back pain by about 50%

I have this grey/white chair and it's really comfy.

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/anyday-john-lewis-partners-hinton-office-chair/grey/p4201464?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

Wonderful, thank you all. My employer is indeed footing the bill but I can make a selection up to a certain £. I can top that up of course if I can find one that will do the ironing, tolerate tedious calls and cook a lasagne for me. I wish! Thanks again.

I bought myself this one - www.argos.co.uk/product/4657112. It’s in grey and white… if that earns me extra brownie points 😇 It’s certainly dealing with my fat and 6.5 month arse well enough!

If you fancy a lot of chair for a relatively bargainous price, take look at 2ndhnd.com . It sells 'pre loved' office furniture, often reconditioned, for a fraction of the price. With (I would imagine) a lot of offices closing their doors in recent months, it's a really good idea.

They have a lot of high end brands. I bought a Knoll chair for £200 - I've seen them new online for over £1000. There are a few minor scratches to the metal frame and scuffs on the wheels, but they're not that noticeable. The seat fabric is brand new.

It's very comfortable and doesn't look too 'officey' in my dining room. I'm really happy with it!
