Yo mama jokes at 11

Sorry if this question sounds strange,

My DS who 11 started using a mobile for the first time with his secondary school, I came across discord app and there was a child in his age group making yo mama jokes in a chat channel. I'm a bit shocked seeing this , if this normal for kids this day and age?

I checked minimum age for discord app and it turns out you have to be at least 13, so I'm thinking deleting the app altogether but worried if this will effect his social interactions in his new school.

Are you able to give an example of what you didn't like?

Depends on the joke! My 10 year old loves Yo Mama jokes but nothing that’s not family friendly) that I know of!)

Is this about ‘Yo mama so fat....’?

As long as your child understands that childish jokes amongst friends is where it stays and that you don’t want him repeating him elsewhere.

When I was that age it was grim IRA jokes and even pickled baby jokes which sound absolutely abhorrent now but that’s the nature of being that age and telling/hearing tasteless jokes.

Normal at that age but usually quite innocent. They get bored after awhile with it.

As long as your child understands time and place, its normal. Kids enjoy toilet humour.

Cheers everyone, specific jokes I came across weren't nasty ones.

My worry could be partly due to us being very protective of him (perhaps tad too much ) due to him being in the Autistic spectrum.

Guess secondary school could be a new experience of all of us as a family.

DS and his friends went through a phase of Yo Mama jokes around that age. It passes @WorriedDad23.Brew

You'll want the yo mama jokes when they move on to not being able to say the word ball without sniggering. It gets tiresome 🤣 as pp said as long as they know when it is appropriate and not e.g. not in front of Gran!
