Utterly pointless thread about teeth cleaning routines

I've just had my first dental checkup in about 2 years (all fine) & it made me curious about whether people floss, use mouthwash etc.

I clean my teeth before breakfast because I read somewhere that it's better to do them before eating, then floss & rinse with mouthwash after and clean & floss again before bed. Usually.

Is this one of those threads where we are all mingers or hygiene freaks?

I floss before brushing morning and night and then don’t rinse after brushing. But I don’t clean my teeth until after breakfast because minty + whatever I’m eating is never good. DH doesn’t floss but has far fewer problems with his teeth than I do. Which makes me think that some of dental health is just luck with genes.

My DGM died at 94 with all her own teeth, so I’m really hoping I’ve got her genes! Admittedly I haven’t got all my own teeth. But that’s only because I fell on my face & smashed one.

Morning I brush, rinse and mouthwash AFTER breakfast

Before bed I floss, brush but don't rinse

No idea if this is right or not but with the exception of teeth that I broke in a fall as a teen I have pretty healthy teeth and no issues.

Brush after breakfast (usually at least half an hour after I’ve eaten!).

Brush then floss before bed.

I used to use mouthwash after brushing too, but my hygienist said that’s pointless as you want the toothpaste residue left on your teeth (you shouldn’t rinse, either!). She said use mouthwash in the day if I want to, but it’s not really necessary. Nice to freshen up, though!
