It's unopened in the fridge.
A protein yoghurt with a date of 6th Sept on it.
Would you?

No way Envy

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/09/2021 12:47

I’d open it and give it a sniff, if it seemed alright I probably would

cantbeforeal · 13/09/2021 12:47

No not that far past but if it was one or two days I would

Yes.

SaturdaySpread · 13/09/2021 12:49

Yes. Yogurt keeps way past its date.

Obviously provided it looks ok once opened.

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2021 12:49

Yes as long as it doesn't smell/taste weird.

santabetterwashhishands · 13/09/2021 12:49

🤮nope

PurBal · 13/09/2021 12:50

Yes

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 13/09/2021 12:50

Assuming it smelled fine and wasn't mouldy, sure.

You don't need use-by dates when you have your eyes and nose, in most cases.

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 13/09/2021 12:50

Taste a bit. If it tastes fizzy, no. Otherwise yes.

namemybabyplease · 13/09/2021 12:50

Definitely. The lid will dome if it's off and it will fizz on your tongue. Yoghurt keeps for ages!

Twinkie01 · 13/09/2021 12:52

Yes, it's only gone off milk isn't it? I often feed DH food past his sell by date and he's either got a cast iron stomach or I'm not trying hard enough!

waxytimes · 13/09/2021 12:52

Yup. I've done worse.

Bluesheep8 · 13/09/2021 12:53

Hmmm, a mixed bag of opinions then...not sure I'll risk it Smile

bananapumpkin · 13/09/2021 12:54

Yes. Dates on yogurts are over-cautious because so many are eaten outside the home (lunchboxes etc.) so they need to survive being out of the fridge for a few hours. If it's still in the fridge it'll be fine.

Wallabyone · 13/09/2021 12:58

If it's plain yogurt, I would-Greek yogurt keeps for ages if unopened.

Fluffypastelslippers · 13/09/2021 13:03

I wouldn't but I'm obsessive about dates.

Bluesheep8 · 13/09/2021 13:17

It's raspberry protein yoghurt

OP posts:
notacooldad · 13/09/2021 13:19

You will soon know if it is off by sight and smell. If still unsure but seems ok I'd put a tiny bit on the tip of my little finger to taste.
I wouldn't be throwing it out without checking.
I'm strict about fish and meat but sensible and processed with caution on other things.

Bluesheep8 · 13/09/2021 13:21

It'd be a shame not to at least check - there are 3 of them and I hate waste

OP posts:
LubaLuca · 13/09/2021 13:21

I'd certainly give it a go. If it seemed even slightly 'fizzy', then I wouldn't persevere.

TinnedPotatoesRock · 13/09/2021 13:22

I would, just give it a sniff and if it smells fine go for it

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 13/09/2021 13:24

If it looks, smells and tastes OK, it's OK. That's how my chef ex tells.

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 13:32

I’d have a sniff and a tiny taste, but yes, I’d probably eat it.

Joystir59 · 13/09/2021 13:33

I would an ordinary yoghurt but not sure a protein one will still be ok.
