Have you bought anything that your parents used to have ?

I was looking at some apples on a tree the other day, that I couldn’t reach, and I suddenly remembered that my mum used to use her prop to get them down.
Then I was thinking how pathetic my little metal prop is so I bought an 8 foot piece of wood, cut a chunk out of the top and bottom, and hey presto ! I’ve got a prop like my mum used to have.

I have no idea what a prop is!! So quite curious - as I have the same problem and was just browsing apple picking gadgets.

I've just bought a black laptop backpack with gold hardware and leather trim exactly like my mum used to have (she has graduated to a more sporty model). I swore blind a few years ago I would never use a backpack and only a proper handbag...how the worm turns!

A prop is what pushes up your washing line to stop the washing touching the floor.

I look on eBay for China my parents used to have. And I recently chose some William Morris cushions - super 80s - because I remembered them from childhood

I spent.... well years to be honest, taking the 'p' out of my mum ( in the nicest way possible 😁) about her awful, ugly plaid shopping trolley that she got in her 40's. "No, don't bring that thing, I'll carry it for you!"
Only to get to a similar age and discover she was right all the time and I now have something similar - well not really, what I have is a pull along shopper in a smart black and white stripe. It's a Godsend to be honest.
Of course my mother, bless her,😁 thinks it's a shopping trolley like hers and delights in reminding me that I vowed I would never ever get one.

How funny! I got my partner to do the same with some wood we had left over from some garden work! It's great and of course I remember us having one whilst I was growing up..oh! And I have some plums I can't reach so may give that a go too.

A white enamel pie dish with blue round the rim, an electric carving knife and stack heel platform boots.

I have shed loads of enamel dishes in various sizes.

When ds was a baby I made some pictures to decorate his room.

Tonight, I was looking at some of my own belongings from childhood, that my mum gave me. In there I found a very similar picture to the ones I had made for ds.

I don't remember it but I must have taken in the image, at least subconsciously. I found it a nice coincidence anyway.
