How do you pronounce ‘iron’?

Off the back of the ‘do school shirts need ironing’ thread, I’m now musing about how weird it is that I don’t say the ‘r’ in iron. So it sounds like I-on in my (southern English) accent. If you have a rhotic accent eg Scottish and pronounce your ‘r’s in all words, how do you say iron?!

I'm north east Scotland. If I said can you iron this it would be eye-rin. But if I said where is iron it would be eye-Ron. Which I've never really thought about until now and it's quite weird isn't it.

@Chunkymenrock

Rhymes with lion and zion.

Same for me and I’m from the same area. Iron as a verb and iron as a noun are pronounced differently. Never noticed before either.
