What to want to know about female tennis players

Not why they wear skirts Grin but how they look so perfect after hours of extreme exertion.

Both those women yesterday looked better groomed than I do as I set off for a night out, let alone 2 hours later or after running around for a bit Grin

You seem to be starting several threads about her, OP. I don’t see anyone saying how groomed the men look after a match, so this seems like a slightly sexist post

ComDummings · 12/09/2021 13:42

Well it helps that most of them are really young plus they’re extremely fit. I would look like a puffy red balloon face after 15 mins of running around a tennis court but then I don’t train 7 days a week like they do!

Redcrayons · 12/09/2021 13:43

They only play for 10 minutes then they get to sit down for a bit Grin How hard can it be?

They’re also super fit world class athletes, but I’m sure it’s the sitting down for a rest thing.

Yes, I realise that. It was tounge in cheek.

Two, I think? I apologise for being interested in the most exciting thing to happen in British sport in decades.

To be fair most people I meet in the supermarket look more well groomed than I do just before I go out, I am the opposite of the phrase "scrubs up well"

LukeEvansWife · 12/09/2021 13:47

It was an amazing achievement but that’s the point - why focus on how good they look at the end?

QueenFreesia2021 · 12/09/2021 13:48

Yes they looked amazing! My friends and I commented the same - but then they are 18!

QueenFreesia2021 · 12/09/2021 13:48

18/19

Yes, they're amazing in a million ways, one of them being that they still look "done" after a couple if hours playing sort at the highest level. I wondered if there's a "secret" or if they actually get taught this stuff. After all, right or wrong (wrong) a lot of their earning potential through sponsorship is tied up in how they look.

But you're not interested in their sporting achievement! You're amazed by how they LOOK after playing, not how they play. Very odd thing to focus on. 🙄

Leave her alone @thelastgoldeneagle . It's lighthearted. Dont post on threads you dont like. This thread is not a threat to feminism, chill.

nc8766 · 12/09/2021 14:52

Maybe because they are 18/19 years old and elite athletes. Not overweight 50 years olds who haven't run a mile in several decades Confused

Mumoftwoinprimary · 12/09/2021 14:53

“Train hard, fight easy”.

Tennis is a skill based game which means that they can get themselves to a level of fitness beyond that which is needed to play a game. (And they will need to do this as you don’t do your best drop shot when you are about to collapse with exhaustion.)

It is different to, say, triathlon where you win by physically pushing yourself further than you ever have before and they often vomit just as they cross the line.

I didn't realise you were the thread police 🙄 why don't you say the same to other posters who expressed a similar sentiment?

Did you not watch the Olympics, Paralympics, Euro cup finals?

Umm, I hate to be the thread police, but wasn't your post an attempt to police my thread Grin
