Can anyone help me understand what test is needed to return from France?

My partner is in and out of France over the weekend for a wedding, but we are massively confused about the test needed to return to the U.K.

There isn’t time to get tested in France and so you can apparently buy a test to take with you and administer but we aren’t clear which one it is

Can anyone help please?

Its our understanding that you can’t board without a negative PCR test , we all did them privately in south of France a day before returning back,
I read about taking kits , but found the whole process confusingConfused

You need a PCR or rapid antigen test. But not an nhs one. So there are some companies you can buy them from and take it with you to test abroad, some you upload the result yourself and some you have to do the test on a Skype call to ensure it’s you!

And then you need a day 2 test booked for when you come back- you need a code to put in your passenger locator form to confirm you have it booked. The form is on the Gov.uk website.

If he’s double vaccinated he will only need to do a day 2 test. We got ours through Dante labs and it was fine and not horrendously expensive.

You can get a LFT in 15 minutes in some pharmacies, don't forget a Passenger Location Form.Just back from France, need to prebook PCR
