Posting here for tragic. I had a biopsy performed earlier today at hospital. I was taken in after sudden onset of bleeding. I stayed in A and E then got moved to a ward. I had blood tests and a scan. On the scan it showed a fibroid I already knew about but also a mass around 6cm by 4cm by 3cm. I was passing massive clots. All I knew was that there was a mass that looked a bit different from my fibroid. I didn’t realise the size of it until I stupidly read the discharge notes just before going to bed! It also says it got some vascularity and fluid. I feel utterly sick. I have 2 young children 6 and 4. I can’t go to sleep knowing this and have been told the results could take 7-10 days to come back. Has anyone experienced similar? I’m so scared

I’ve just re-read it and it says the mass is in the endometrial cavity and that the fluid is suggestive of blood

Hey OP, I just wanted to say that my DSis had similar at the end of last year. It started with an abnormal bleed which got worse over a few months, after her GP investigated they found a large mass and performed a biopsy as a precaution. It turned out to be an endometrial polyp, she had to have surgery to remove it due to the size and bleeding it was causing.

I hope everything goes well for you Flowers

Hi, I had exactly the same and it waa an Endometrioma - an ovarian cyst filled with blood. Also referred to as chocolate cysts. Painful to say the least, but totally treatable, and thankfully not malignant.

Thanks Glamour, I’m hoping it will be something like that. I had a scan for abnormal bleeding last Summer and the only thing that showed on the scan was my fibroid. I feel physically sick with worry. It’s the wording about this mass having it’s own blood supply that’s got me worried along with the size of it. I lost a lot of blood. I can’t bear the thought of not being there for my children they are so young and I love them and always want to be around for them.

Thank you for your response I’m glad you had a good outcome

I assume by endometrial cavity they mean my womb? The biopsy was taken from my womb

I understand how scared how must feel. I had a biopsy of my uterus in June because of abnormal bleeding and a suspicious uterine thickness. I'd just lost my mother to very sudden cancer and I was literally hysterical.
Luckily it was all clear, nothing to worry about and all is well now.

During this time I read so much about uterine issues. I'm wondering if it could be a pollop. They can grow really large and sometimes have their own blood supply. It would cause abnormal bleeding too.

My friend had a fibroid so large in her uterus that it stopped her from peeing. It grew quite suddenly. As she was nearing her 50's they offered her a hysterectomy which she took. She's very well now.

I'm sure you it will be ok. It's just excruciating waiting.

Please do let us know Thanks

If this helps, I had a mass found on a scan. It was on my ovary. The report had the same language about solid and fluid components.

I had it removed by laparoscopy. They removed both my ovaries.

It turned out to be a rare benign tumour. But I was scared like you. My best advice is get it moved forward quickly. The waiting and worrying was the hardest for me.

Thinking of you.💐

Thank you for your replies. I wish I could get some sleep. Does anyone know if it’s possible for a fibroid to have vascularity? (I think that means it’s own blood supply)

I have a whopper of a fibroid (14.5x10x10cm) which is described as very vascular. I have had some very impressive bleeds with clots the size of tennis balls/dinner plates and it is all down to the fibroid. Due to get it out soon and can't wait!!

Thank you for this it’s given me some hope. I’m going to see if they will prescribe me something to help me sleep and ease my anxiety. The mind is cruel and I keep thinking of all kinds of horrible scenarios.

I think something to help you sleep is a good idea. I asked for and was prescribed something. If you can't sleep for worry and anxiety the whole thing just feels worse.
