She'd piled all her hair up on her head in an amazingly tall Marge Simpson do. I was both completely mesmerised and internally sniggering at the same time.

Then I remembered I used to actually go out wearing plumbers overalls, accessorised with a cheap red, wide plastic belt.
Tied red bandana round hair like Bananarama/Dexys/Hilda Ogden
Wore long dangly chain earrings with red balls on the end the size of a grape
Red canvas shoes
Pink and red eyeshadow
Blue lipstick

Essex 1980s.

Overdose of purple. Chunky purple trainers, purple lycra trousers, purple sheer shirt, with a blue adidas tracksuit top.

My college boyfriend at the time said I looked nice. I can honestly say I wouldn't repeat that outfit.

I don't regret any of my fashion choices, even the ones that clearly didn't work, because I had so much fun wearing them at the time. I was never afraid to stand out from the crowd, so there were some interesting choices made.

Oh god mid 2000’s and I was such an emo. Poker straight back combed hair dyed dark purple, organ crushingly tight black skinny jeans with big black studded belt, converse or DC trainers, many many band t shirts the more obscure the better, hoodies that I cut holes in so I could poke my thumbs through all topped off with multiple facial piercings and a metric shit ton of black eyeliner Blush.
@Atalune Your fashion history is almost identical to yours, although loved grunge, I was more into house and clubbing at that time-slip dresses, knee high boots, Kangol etc.
Massive yes to Morgan and more smart wear and spending a fortune on clothes..at around 19/20 I think. Am guessing you’re around my age, 43, or maybe a bit younger?
Yes! I am 44! How funny.

I wonder if we dress similarly now.

While we may laugh at our fashion choices now it really was fun growing up in earlier times and experimenting with the weird and wonderful. Today seems rather dull in comparison for teenagers.

BlotBangRub · 14/09/2021 00:15

More or less everything I wore in the early / mid 80s.
Especially the massive shoulder pads. I looked like an American footballer gone wrong.
Along with a poodle perm at the same time.
A bloody poodle perm FFS!! 😂

There seemed to have been a shed load of blue eyeshadow bought! I did not wear it on its own but with pink and gold. Inner eye pink. middle gold end blue. Yes I also wore blue mascara. Eeek!

Farrah trousers in a pastel colour, folded hanky hanging out of the back pocket, Oxford shirt, loafers from Ravel, highlighted, flicked hair.
We were "soul girls" South London early 80's, thought I was the business 🙄
