Can you get a prescription at any pharmacy?!

I have just had the horrifying realisation I forgot to pick up my DCs prescription today and I need it for Monday morning (numbing cream for a hospital procedure).

There is a nominated pharmacy on the green prescription paper but that is our small local pharmacy which is closed on Sundays. There are several large pharmacies in town which I could get to tomorrow but does it matter that it isn't the one they have 'sent' the prescription to?
If anyone has any knowledge on this I'd appreciate it!!

If its an electronic prescription and they have already downloaded it then it cannot be downloaded by another pharmacy.

However, you can buy Emla cream OTC in pharmacies (it is quite expensive though).

If you have green paper script then it’s not gone direct to chemist that’s just done on line. Did you pick it up from surgery? In which case can take to where ever is best for you.

Sometimes doctors hand out green tokens as well as send the prescription electronically, so it may have already been downloaded. It depends if it is a green script or a green token.

Thank you!

I'm relieved I can at least buy it OTC.

I picked the blood test form and the green prescription up from surgery on Friday. It has the pharmacy in top left. @britnay how would I know if script or token please?

In Scotland the paper prescriptions are orange. How cute to get green ones. lol

A script will have a signature on the bottom left. A token will say "token" in the same place.

If it's emla cream it costs a fiver and you can buy it OTC. Regular blood test parent here, I never get a script for it!
