Annoying peoplek

Today I was in the library with my toddler. He ran out and I took a minute to go out after him because he’s always running around exploring and that’s ok in the children’s section but it’s near the door. It’s in a community centre and his big brother was doing a class down the hall and there is a drink fountain there so that’s where he was heading. When I realised he was going out of the library I chased after him and a lady stopped me for something but I ignored her because I needed to get my baby. When I got him I carried him back in to our stuff and passed the lady. I said “sorry I needed to chase him. Were you asking me something?” She said yes if you were going outside don’t let your child go up to my dog because he might get aggressive. I said we’re not going outside but you shouldn’t leave a dog tied up outside by itself if it could bite people. I just walked off. And then when I got back to our things my bag was open and my older sons wallet was out on the table. I think some little kids had taken it out so that’s a seperate issue but the whole thing was so annoying and kind of ruined my trip out. I was just stressed chasing my little one and some lady held me up to say something totally irrelevant to me and also I don’t think people should leave potentially aggressive dogs outside libraries. Anyway not a huge deal but it was a bit stressful

I would find you an annoying person because my children were taught right from the start that they were not to run around inside the library as although it was a children’s section it wasn’t a playground.

Also, if your child is likely to run out of buildings then you should keep him on reins.

Fair enough but he wasn’t exactly running and acting crazy just toddling off very fast and he didn’t get out of the building just out of the wide exit of the library into the main hallway of the building. It’s so great to hear that your toddlers never ran out of arms length though @Mariell I’m so impressed

It's one of those really tricky situations.
My daughter wasn't a runner at all but somehow managed to disappear out of a shop that we were in. You become frantic and your escapee is all you can focus on.
Glad you found your little one .

As to the dog, well, no. No one should ever leave their dog tied up outside if it's at all anxious or aggressive.
Many people, particularly children , are drawn towards dogs and can't help themselves but to have a stroke or a scrunge behind the ears.

Yes people are annoying, some people probably found you/your children annoying today. Its life.

Take reins the next time.

Ignore the lady about the dog. She shouldn’t be leaving it unattended if it’s likely to be aggressive.
