What do you use chopsticks for?

Besides the usual?
For me, it's getting the tea bags out of the pot, fishing out olives, and taking out the not happy leaves of spinach from the bag.

Getting toast out! And also lighting candles lol. I put the chopstick on the gas cooker to light it.

Starlightstarbright1 · 11/09/2021 04:47

When i first cleaned out my u bend in bathroom i found a pair of chop sticks in there. No idea what previous owners used them for.

pompomsgalore · 11/09/2021 04:54

Cleaning the hand held dyson out.

ChampagneCommunist · 11/09/2021 05:17

Stirring G&T

ISpyCobraKai · 11/09/2021 05:35

I don't think I've ever used them for anything other than eating, but my best cooking tip ever is to use the tiny blue plastic spoons from the Cadbury's egg and spoon to stuff canneloni tubes.

midsomermurderess · 11/09/2021 05:57

Getting tricky bits of bread out of the toaster.

Fredoftheforest · 11/09/2021 07:12

Mixing the omelette up in the pan - the wooden chopsticks won’t scratch your pan, and beating the eggs in the pan as it just starts to warm makes the omelette really fluffy.

This thread is eye opening

Making a fool of my self attempting to eat Chinese food

cirrusminor · 11/09/2021 07:16

Scrambling eggs, "whisking" batter and flipping things in the pan when they're frying. Also stirring when I'm cooking something in a small saucepan.

Nearlyme · 11/09/2021 07:18

Stirring paint.

Catipepo · 11/09/2021 07:18

Same as @pompomsgalore
There's a designated dyson chopstick

hollyhocksarenotmessy · 11/09/2021 07:18

Historical reenactor here. Poking lacing through tiny sewn eyelet holes in our clothing.

Eating salad. It's so much easier than using a fork.

(Not that I eat much salad.)

We've only got the short pointy Japanese chopsticks at home, which are good for salad, but I was in a Chinese restaurant the other day which had the longer, blunter Chinese chopsticks, which reminded me I prefer these for regular food that isn't salad.

Curlyshabtree · 11/09/2021 07:30

Vigorously swirling boiling water in a pan when making poached eggs.
Testing if a cake is baked.

SkankingMopoke · 11/09/2021 07:52

Stirring cold drinks and spinning the water for poached eggs.

NotMeNoNo · 11/09/2021 08:05

This is a revelation. The laqueredJapanese chopsticks that have been sitting in a drawer for 10 years are going to be put to work. Olives! Omelettes!

TroysMammy · 11/09/2021 08:08

Harry Potter wands. Well only the one for my niece who was delighted. I've now got one totally useless on its own chopstick.

ChickenTimeBomb · 11/09/2021 08:35

Putting my hair up if I can't find a bobble.

lucysmam · 11/09/2021 09:17

@TroysMammy I did exactly the same many years ago for dd1! The chopstick wand now lives with my make up brushes.

Its match is used for stirring paint.

The thin-ish stainless steel ones are handy for poking corners when I've been sewing.

Borris · 11/09/2021 09:28

@TroysMammy and @lucysmam I came on thinking I'd be the first Harry Potter wand! We spent a happy afternoon decorating them with nail varnish Smile

KrytaSeraph · 11/09/2021 09:59

Any food stirring, mixing eggs etc and to stir anything in the pan, I've got loads of long cooking ones which I use instead of a wooden spoon or a spatula.
Unusual wise, for knocking food that falls out of the gap between the counter and the stove.

DoylyCarte · 11/09/2021 10:12

Stirring coffee
Stirring paint
(Not the same ones!)

TractorAndHeadphones · 11/09/2021 10:15

Everything. Stir fry, roast chicken, eating salad, fish and chips, chicken, making hot drinks. You name it I’ve used chopsticks for it. Go through Uni with a pair of chopsticks and a fork 😎
