Hi I recently fell victim of a rental fraud, although I contacted my bank as soon as I found out or it clicked, they have only just made contact with the beneficiary bank and gave them another 20 days to investigate, now I don't work due to been a full time carer for my mum and having 2 young kids so £700 is a big chunk of money to me that I was saving to get me and kids a new place due to harrassment since I moved into this property. If you have did you manage to get the money back thru your bank I paid by debit card and just wonder if I will ever see any of it.

My friend was a victim of fraud when someone called her and convinced her to log into her account while on the phone to them. She did manage to get it back £££ but it took a few weeks.

I hope you get yours back.

Banks are liable to refund any money for fraudulent debit transactions – unless they can prove you acted fraudulently or been negligent. This could include if you've been careless with any online passwords, or if you've willingly shared your card details with someone else.

You dont give details but I assume the property was fraudulently sub let and the £700 was your deposit? You should get it back in time. I hope so. £700 is a lot of money to lose.

Last year someone took £350 out of my bank using a linked Paypal business debit card and then tried to take a further £900. My bank stopped it. I had to go to Paypal for the rest but they quickly pulled it back from the company it had been spent with - a bucket shop website in Prague. I would love t have seen the frauster when they got to the airport to take their flight and got stopped for having a fraudulently issued ticket. Airlines are quite hot on that. I no longer link my Paypal card to my bank account.

I put a post on gumtree to warn others and 3 other ppl have got in touch one today daid he's even sent a screenshot of my deposit in his bank I told them they had to contact police but not let on and pass on all details as national fraud bureau are investigating, unfortunately I still haven't had any news from my bank and was told to lodge a complaint against both banks as my bank thean who called was constant like do you have health issues any health issues felt like he was trying to ask if I had a learning disability to have done and the other bank a branch of nationwide don't seem to communicate to well with my bank ,but then the complaint can take upto 4 weeks,I think I am at the stage where I have accepted it happened I wont see the money again but if I can stop it happening to anyone else by this guy I will try,hr seems to target single mothers or mothers to be,going by ppl that have contacted
