Day two, five and 8 tests (amber countries)

DS really needs to go and visit family abroad in an amber country. I am trying to work out what we need to do. I have found companies on the gov.U.K. Site that offer tests for £20-40 which seems very cheap (last time I looked they were £160ish) has anyone used these? Are they worse than the expensive tests?
If you do day 5 test to release do you have to do day 8 as well?
Thanks

As he is under 18 he doesn’t need isolate on his return and he only need to do day 2 PCR.

He needs to do a private LFT test within the 3 days before he returns to the U.K, complete the PLF within 48 hours before his flight and have his private day 2 PCR booked.

We fly with TUI so paid only £20 for the LFT and PCR.

You will also need to look at the requirements of the country he is wanted to fly to.

Thanks, that's really good news, I didn't know he doesn't have to isolate!
