I'm a bit late to the game here as DS has decided not to use mum taxi to get to and from school now so ive applied for the oyster zip 16+.

Do I need to also register this online somewhere else with oyster so we can track his journey expenditure?

I don't understand, are you saying your 16+ year old has never used public transport before?

Yes you can.
Google TFL Oyster card registration and it will let you do that.
Will he be getting free travel on the bus or half price? ( is he in full time education?)

If you have the log in details from the account, you can log in and see the card's history (journeys, top ups etc)

You can apparently set up a weekly email to tell you journey history, but I've never managed to make that work properly

Bus/tram will be free, Tube/overground/rail at child rate (half price?)
