Washing coming out machine like this? Me or it?

Im not overloading the drum but when the cycles are done items are always very creased and rammed up around the walls of the drum to the point you can see the indentations from the barrel on the clothes or sheets or whatever. It’s a bottom of the range Bosch about 7 years old. It’s cleaning ok but it does sound noisier. DP pointed out the creasing today but It’s not something I’ve thought about before and he has only said something about it now so I don’t know how long it’s been like this. It’s been noisier over the last year but the creasing could have always been like it for all I can remember. Is anyone else’s washing like this ? The load that the t shirt in the pic was just tops and undies no large or heavy items at all.

After that amount of time maybe the brushes are worn so the spin is off in some way?

DontMakeMeShushYou · 09/09/2021 21:02

It sounds like you might have it on a really high spin speed. Can you try reducing the speed and see what difference it makes?

Couldhavebeenme3 · 09/09/2021 21:04

Looks normal after a really good spin!

xyzandabc · 09/09/2021 21:04

Looks normal to me. The force of the spin crushes the clothes and water against the drum. The water is small enough to pass through the holes, the clothes are not. So the water comes out ify the clothes and the clothes are stuck to the inside of the drum. How are you expecting them to come out?

Bloodyavocadoagain · 09/09/2021 21:04

Thanks. I’ve googled various things but can’t find anything to explain the indentations . But something to do with the spin sounds likely.

I suppose without the indentations from the drum on stuff. It’s not something I’ve thought of though till DP said stuff looked very creased when he emptied it today. I’m desperate for it to not need replacing at The Moment.

Are you filling it too much? My stuff is always really creased when I totally fill it - I still do it tho Blush

ditalini · 09/09/2021 21:08

Yes, it's just the spin I think. The creases should shake out.

Bloodyavocadoagain · 09/09/2021 21:11

I occasionally probably overfill it but DP puts a ridiculously small amount in. This load had about 10 t shirts and some undies . I could have probably got in as well.

Can you lower the spin speed?

purplesequins · 09/09/2021 21:16

your machine seems to have a good spin.
just give the item a good flick before hanging it up to dry

ditalini · 09/09/2021 21:25

Actually, I think I've seen these marks most often when I've just washed a couple of jersey sheets or similar so it could actually be exacerbated by your dh putting in quite a small load on a high spin.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/09/2021 21:26

Same as my BOSH. I don’t think it’s unusual

Seeline · 09/09/2021 21:33

It's because it's a small load. And possibly too high a spin.

Bloodyavocadoagain · 09/09/2021 21:55

Thanks everyone. As long as it cleans things and this isn’t a sign it’s about to throw in the towel im ok with it. I don’t think I’d have noticed anything apart from the noise unless DP had said something.

I have a Bosch. I reduced the spin to 1200rpm and it solved this issue. I only spin towels at 1600 now.

Davros · 09/09/2021 22:43

Those indentations are just the impression from the drum when the spin is high

Bloodyavocadoagain · 09/09/2021 23:07

Thanks everyone. Will reduce spin speed.

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 09/09/2021 23:19

It's probably a good sign - if the machine was on the way out it wouldn't be spinning at full tilt.

magsbagsfags · 09/09/2021 23:43

@Bloodyavocadoagain isn't a sign it'll throw in towel!!!

Great inadvertent joke OP!!

😂

Bloodyavocadoagain · 10/09/2021 08:30

Magsbagsfags Thank you. I was going to put pun intended but decided it was a bit pratty.

Hernameis. That’s good. I think I’m on red alert to anything that could be showing signs of needing replacing over the next few months as I’ve got enough going out my bank account without having to try factor in any added extras.
