Everything will be alright in the end and if it’s not alright, then it’s not the end.
I really dont understand what this one actually means

It kind of reads as "suffer until you die" to me! Probably not what it's supposed to mean...

WestendVBroadway · 10/09/2021 11:03

@ssd
I imagine it means that everything will have a good conclusion. If things are still not going well , then keep going as it will get better eventually and when it does this is the end of the situation.

ssd · 10/09/2021 11:17

@thecatneuterer

No good deed goes unpunished.

But not everything has a good conclusion at the end. Just cos its the end doesn't mean its right.

If it looks like shit and smells like shit; it probably is shit . . . so don't put it in your mouth

If you don't succeed at first . . . . cheat

Red sky in the morning, nice sunrise

Red sky at night, nice sunset

A bird in the hand should be put back in the bush with its friends

He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke, still doesn't and is only laughing because everyone else is.

thecatneuterer · 10/09/2021 13:04

@ssd From the internet: The phrase ' No good deed goes unpunished' is a sardonic commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them. In other words, those who help others are doomed to suffer as a result of their helpfulness

TheBraveLittleTailor · 10/09/2021 13:45

@DoncasterHombre
You cynic!

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is dark.

No guts, no working digestive system.

The early worm gets eaten by the waiting bird

Where there's a will, there's a Narc, LTB immediately

People who live in glass houses should get blinds, unless they are naturists or nudists who enjoy being watched

Boood · 10/09/2021 18:24

@Clawdy

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is dark.
That’s beautiful.
Happyfeet1972 · 10/09/2021 19:11

All's well that ends well - if the conclusion works out, I'm quick to forget the pain of getting there.

But yes another one that doesn't like "it'll be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end". Doesn't really fit with people who have life altering illnesses and suffering and then die of them as one example.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 10/09/2021 19:14

Shit stinks... but it's warm

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't force it to drink"

But you can chase the fucker around until it's thirsty :-)

If at first you don’t succeed, sky diving is probably not for you

Rain before seven, shine before eleven. Never fails.

More people are flattered into virtue than are bullied out of vice.

“Rain before seven, shine before eleven. Never fails.”
It does in Scotland!

Build a man a fire, keep him warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Run with the hare and hunt with the hounds

It's 'You can't run with the hare (the prey) and the hounds ( the predators).

Less haste, more speed

GotToGoBye · 13/09/2021 13:43

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst

Didn’t warrant 3 posts, posted as I remembered them!

HeronLanyon · 13/09/2021 13:43

I agree fully with all of yours op. I’d add -
If you put it on now you won’t get the benefit.
Never a lender or a borrower be (where it can be avoided - my addition).
Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
Treat others as you would wish to be treated.
If you’ve nothing nice to say say nowt.
If I may quote Bob Marley “stand up for your rights”.
