What’s your wise sayings that you realise hold more than a grain of truth?

My DF’s “wisdom” here - make no man wiser than yourself.

An Irish saying “it’s a long road that doesn’t have a turning”.

Both are actually true

This has been my mantra at certain points in my life. It's carried me through. Wise words.

‘It will all come out in the wash’
‘if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it’s a duck’
And ‘there’s no smoke without fire’

Thanks I’d forgotten that one.

Having wasted time watching/looking at cows, I have come to the conclusion that cows lying down in a field means they feel like lying down.

I used to read my grandad’s big old dictionary, so all of mine are latin:

Very true in my opinion - something / someone might look nice but can they actually do the job. Substance over style.
