Said many times by my older work colleague 20+ years ago. Now I’ve reached the age he was at that time, I completely understand why he said it so much and have embraced it as my own

My husband looked rather crestfallen when my mum mentioned it was a Spanish saying. My father-in-law had always claimed to have made it up.
