Hi we are removing our dd from y8 and going to be home schooling. I know we have to tell the school what do we say? Do we need to contact the council or will the school do it?

there is an excellent home ed board in education on here whree you can get good advice.

You have to deregister
you also have to provide a suitable education, however, this does not need to be in school hours or following the curriculum. (but probably a good idea if she wants to go back at any point. )
It used to be that yuou do not need to tell the council what you are doing unless they suspect that you are not prioviding a suitable education. But check with the experts on home ed.

I've posted on home Ed as well. We have registered her with an online school that follows ks3 curriculum so hopefully it will suffice
