The Government and Marcus Rashford

First Hancock the Humper called him Daniel Rashford in an interview and now the Minister for Education hopefully not for long Gavin Williamson mistakes meeting someone else entirely for Marcus Rashford.

You would have thought he would have known what Rashford looks and sounds like, given his work in establishing book clubs for underpriviledged children in education.

WTF is wrong with this government?

Just saw that. A fucking disgrace, really. At the very best it shows how very disorganized they are. What a shit show.

I wouldn't know every sportsperson but Rashford has been the face campaiging for free school meals and in the public consciousness due to the Euros and the racism following the penalties.

It's just embarrassing that Williamson doesn't actually know who he is.

I think it probably is really easy to mistake 6ft6 110kg Maro Itoje for 5ft 11 70kg Marcus Rashford!?!

I have an image in my head of Maro playing as a forward for Manchester Utd. Anyone who has seen him on the charge playing rugby ought to be scared and I am sure any football defender would be!

At least Gavin Williamson serves the purpose of making us all for more intelligent.

It was on a zoom call @jgw1 but all the same he must have made the assumption -I'm speaking to a black sportsman with an interest in child welfare -must be Marcus Rashford.

I wonder if he would have mixed up say Harry Kane with Ben Stokes?

People in their position (certain types of white men) don't like black men getting above their station, so find little ways of putting them down and dismissing them .

The racism shows, it leaks out in all sorts of ways. I hate this government.

It's a farce. Esp cos someone like him would have an assistant who would put tbr meeting in his calendar saying clearly who the meeting is with, he would have been giving a briefing by his PA or whoever conforming who he was speaking to and the lines to take etc etc.

I disagree, I think he genuinely got them confused which is even worse imo. Myself and one other woman at university were black, tutors, mentors etc would always get us mixed up- we look nothing the same beside skin tone (even there there's a difference). Truth is people literally can't be arsed to bother to look beyond the colour of our skin, it's a very ingrained racism that always gets excused or just accepted.
