Remortgage taking ages and costing us a fortune!

Fixed deal was ending with current provider and the variable rate was ridiculous. Found a better fixed rate elsewhere so 2 months ago started the process to swap.

Well it still hasn’t been sorted (solicitors being super slow) and we now have to pay the new monthly rate until it is! Our mortgage has gone from £900 to £1400 which we can’t afford.

Everything crossed it gets sorted by next month or the extra amount we are paying while we wait will make it have not been worth swapping at all!

When I arranged mine the mortgage provider went off sick and I got someone else. They promised it would be completed and if it wasn't that I wouldn't be charged. I was! I had to make a complaint and the money was refunded.

I think the mortgage provider was expecting that was the route I would need to take in hindsight but knew I would get it if I did complain.

Can you document the delays and put a complaint in writing once its completed?

The remortgage is with a new company and so it is reliant on the solicitors paying off the old mortgage and starting the new one.

It was meant to be done by the 1st but wasn’t and we have now been hit with this months payment on the new SVR which we can’t afford.

You still have a right to complain though.
